A suspicious Craigslist ads were brought to attention by an individual looking for housing. A legitimate property listing was posted this summer followed by a scam listing for the same property. The scam listing uses a nearly identical description along with a significantly lower price and no additional photographs which are common indicators of a scam. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
Scammers will attempt to have prospective tenants or buyers send them a deposit and completed “rental agreement” which contains sensitive personal and financial information, potentially leading to identity theft and/or financial loss.
